Government would soon construct a dam on the Bonsa River in the Tarkwa/Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.

The 992 million United States dollar hydro-electric project would be built by the Chinese Company, constructing the Bui Dam.

Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Planning told the press when he visited the dam site at Bonsa.

He was accompanied by Mr George Mireku Duker, Tarkwa/Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive and some experts from China.

He said the President will cut the sod for the construction of the hydro dam before the general elections this year.

Mr Baah-Wiredu said when the dam was completed, there will be constant supply of power to industries and it will help create job opportunities for the people in the area and beyond.

Mr Duker said the government is development oriented and was determined to embark on projects that would benefit every community within the country.

He said with the completion of the dam, communities from Bonsa up to Enchi will enjoy constant power supply.
