Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Sports Council (NSC) Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah has inspected facilities at the Essipon Sports Stadium near Sekondi in the Western Region following the recent overcrowding at the venue during the Ghana/Lesotho World Cup qualifier.

The Chief Executive directed that the necessary repairs on the facility should be repaired as a matter of priority.

The visit was to rectify all mishaps that occurred before, during and in the course of the match.

During the visit, Prince Oduro-Mensah met with Mark Chen - a director of the Shanghai Construction Group and Frank Boaheng CEO of Green Grass Technology (GGT) as well as the Western Regional Sports Development Officer of Council.

Prince Oduro-Mensah stated that the Council has learnt a lot of lessons from the unfortunate incidents and will ensure that the stadium records incident-free matches in future.

The Chief Eexecutive also inspected a small undulated portion of the pitch being upgraded by the Shanghai Construction Group, as the company winds up its liability contract.

Prince Oduro-Mensah asked the contractors to fashion out the best upgrading solution for the undulated portion of the field.

The two parties assured the Chief Executive that they would resolve the problems in due time to put the facility back to its standard.
