The Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) Mr. Kyeremanteng Agyarko has lashed out at New Patriotic Party supporters in the Lower Manya Krobo constituency calling for his removal as the parliamentary candidate to be replaced by his sister Dedo Kusi Agyarko.
He says he doubts if the so-called NPP supporters are true supporters of the party.
Mr. Kyeremanteng cannot fathom why the critics are calling for his removal after he was duly elected by congress, attended by almost all the polling station executives.
He described as baseless suggestions that by keeping his position at the FDB, as well as being a member and president of the local assembly, he cannot effectively represent the constituency.
Mr. Kyeremanteng said he is focused on his job and will not allow the few people who do not understand the judicial process to frustrate him.
“Who are these people, they are not even polling station executives, they are talking like NDC people if they mean well, then why did they wait till now to talk?” he queried in an interview with
Adom News.
“Look at me, am focused and I will not allow myself to be distracted by them” Kyeremanteng said.
He challenged them to another primary with anyone who intended to contest the seat with him, adding that he will win hands down.
Asked if he suspected his sister to be behind the calls by his critics calling for his removal, Mr. Agyarko said he does not believe his sister would do anything like that, explaining that she had indicated she was not interested in the seat.
“She told me long before the contest that she was not interested and so I think she has nothing to do with this.”
Worried NPP supporters are not the only ones that Mr. Kyeremanteng has to deal with. The NDC has been on him in recent times accusing him of diverting MASLOC funds to purchase corn mills for distribution for political gain.
He has denied the charge and said if the NDC wanted to do a similar thing they could go ahead.
