Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu has stated categorically that she did not orchestrate the action of hundreds of women who thronged the office of Prof. Mills to prevail upon him to select her as running mate.

According to her, she was anxious when the information got to her that some women were lobbying for her selection as the NDC vice presidential candidate.

Speaking to Joy News on the telephone from London, Mrs. Iddrisu, however, expressed gratitude to the women for their confidence in her.

“I feel humbled, flattered and proud because these are not just NDC women but also gender activists, the youth and academics” she stated.

Hundreds of women petitioned the National Democratic Congress flag bearer, Prof. John Atta Mills on Monday March 31, 2008, to consider Mrs. Iddrisu for the vice presidential candidacy of the party.

The move however coincided with the Daily Dispatch newspaper publication that claimed that the Member of Parliament for Bole Banboi, Mr. John Dramani Mahama had been selected for the job.

Responding to the publication, Mrs. Iddrisu said she was not disappointed because “Prof. Mills has the integrity to pick someone who is best and can help us attain victory”.

“Anytime I am called upon, I will serve the NDC and Prof. Mills in whatever capacity”, she reiterated.
