Members of the committee investigating alleged maltreatment of some commercial drivers at the 37 Military Hospital morgue has asked the victims to accompany them to the morgue again.
The drivers were arrested by soldiers on duty at the hospital and allegedly subjected to tasks in the morgue; including rearranging, carrying and fondling corpses.
A source close to the drivers’ union, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, disclosed to
Asempa News that the decision to return to the morgue forms part of the committee’s investigations into the allegation.
Some of the drivers and their mates at the committee’s sitting today told
Asempa News they do not intend to honour the invitation after going through what they described as ‘hell’.
They explained that the committee told them the exercise would enable them carry their investigations effectively, but the drivers maintained that visiting the mortuary for the second time would not be possible.
According to them, they have not been to the hospital since the incident.
Describing what they saw in the mortuary to
Asempa News, the drivers said there were several corpses on the floor, while the temperature in the room was like ‘ice block’.
