BERLIN, Germany (AP) -- Police have discovered the bodies of three dead babies in a freezer of a family home in western Germany, authorities said Monday.

The bodies were found in a freezer in the cellar of a house in the city of Wenden by officers acting on a tip-off.

Police said the babies appeared to have died shortly after birth.

More information about the incident, including whether anyone has been charged, were expected to be released at a news conference later Monday, The Associated Press reported.
