The Nzema East District Director of Health Services, Dr. Abraham Techie-Menson, has appealed to health workers, especially nurses to wash their hands properly after attending to patients to avoid transferring diseases among their clients and to themselves.

Dr. Teachie-Menson made the appeal at the closing of a day’s training workshop to sensitize workers on contamination at the Nkroful Health Centre at Nkroful in the Ellembele district of the Western Region on Friday.

It was organized and sponsored by the authorities of the Health Centre and attended by ten health personnel made up of four males and six females.

Topics treated included decontamination and handling of disinfectants, antiseptic sterilization as well as the disposal of hygienic waste.

The Midwifery Superintendent in charge of the centre, Mrs. Emily Ankonu, advised health workers to be careful when attending to HIV/AIDS patients not to get infected.

She asked them to ensure regular clean-ups at their health facilities and adopt preventive measures against contaminations.
