Member of Parliament for New Juaben North and a former Minister of State, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, has advised the youth to concentrate on their studies so that Ghana would have a knowledge base economy.

“Ghana is moving forward and therefore needs an educated people to steer its developmental affairs and not uneducated youth whose lives have been destroyed by drugs,” he said.

Mr Owusu-Agyemang made the remarks when he presented buses to the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School (OMESS) and two other institutions in the New Juaben Municipality.

The other beneficiary schools were Pope John Senior High School and Junior Seminary, and Ghana Secondary School.

Mr Owusu-Agyemang warned that if not checked, the current canker of drug abuse among the youth, particularly students, would only destroy their future.

He told the students that Ghana was moving gradually to a middle-income status and that it was only through education that they would become relevant in the new dispensation.

The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Adjei Boateng, said with the huge investments that government was putting in education; students were expected to excel in both academic and morals to move Ghana forward.

He said strike actions where properties and lives were destroyed should be a thing of the past in schools and urged the students to rather concentrate on their studies.

The Assistant Headmaster of Ghana Secondary School, Mr Jacob Afful, thanked the government for the coaches.
