Ghanaians have been asked not to allow the rapid social and economic changes to result in the adulteration of the country’s traditional values and cultural practices.

Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa, who gave the advise, observed that adulteration of the values and practices had been a major contributing factor to the high rate of indiscipline among the youth.

This was contained in a speech read for the DCE by the Deputy District Co-ordinating Director, Mr John Vadi at the Seventh Fanteakwa District Senior High Schools Festival of Arts, under the theme “Promoting culture for a healthy living”, on Friday at Begoro.

Mr Caesar urged chiefs and queen mothers in the country to establish cultural villages to train the youth on good cultural values of the society towards the proper upbringing of children.

He asked the public not to look down on the culture of other ethnic groups but respect them to ensure unity and development.

Mr Kwadwo Osei Owusu, the Fanteakwa District Director of Education, said culture was dynamic and not static and urged traditional rulers to eradicate all outmoded customary practices that retarded progress.

He advised teachers to make teaching of music and culture more practical to entice and sustain the interest of school children.

Mr Owusu advised students to desist from practicing occultism under the cover of culture since such practices were not for fun but could jeopardize their future.

Begoro Presbyterian High School emerged the overall district champion in cultural competition.
